Synopsis

On October 13. 1307, three chariots full of a « treasure » would have been taken away from Paris to England. The legend states that the treasure would have been buried in the crypt of the Saint-Clair family (member of the Order), and then moved into a mysterious underground fortress in Scotland in order to be kept away from covetousness. The Ark was placed in a stone sarcophagus which opens with 5 crosses (one per Order having served Christ’s Tomb). The crosses were scattered and fell into oblivion until nowadays..... But now appear new dangers : people try to appropriate themselves the Ark and its divine power. The crosses appear again one after the other in every corner of the world and it is now for Lara time for action ...

Lara’s father, Lord Richard Croft, had studied in Oxford at the same time as Frank Saint-Clair. Both were brilliant students in archaeology. Alas, Frank died tragically in Alaska in his private aircraft. A while ago, during a reunion evening, he told Lara’s father he was in possession of one of the crosses needed to open the famous sarcophagus. He never left the cross behind him. Therefore, the cross also disappeared in the crash… Lord Croft himself had also discovered one of them. As he felt threatened, he kept it safe in a secret place inside Abbingdon Manor, the family domain in County Surrey... Years passed by and the danger went away ...

When travelling to a monastery in Spain while following the path of the Conquistadors, Lara notices that a tragedy has just occurred. Only ruined or partly destroyed buildings remains of the monastery, almost no monks, and most of all, only a very few hints. But this monastery was not only hosting monks: it was also hosting “sacred urns” containing the remains of the fighting knights: the Templars. What is this mystery, what is the aim of this sacrilege…
